STORMY!!!

Getting back to .500

The next game the Lookouts played was against the Bats.  The Bats won the league the previous spring and were pretty good.  The team came to play.  Jack and Mark made solid work in the field and hit some hard ground balls to help the Lookouts steamroll the Bats 11-1.  The win got the boys back to .500 at 2-2.

After the game, here are a couple of pictures of the team. They are tired, but satisfied with the victory.

Waiting for Coach Josh to give the team some feedback.

Are you really taking my picture?  Really!?! - Mark

Boosterthon run

As the school did last year, the one and only fund raising event is the Boosterthon run.  This year, we knew what to expect.  The one change was that the kids were able to run the laps with a specific color of shirt on based on the class that they were in.

Mark wore a green shirt while Jack wore yellow.

The first graders ran around the track with the kindergartners.  Everyone had fun.  Luckily, it wasn't near as hot as it was last year.

Jack and Mark both ran about 47 laps, even though they only had to run 35 laps.  Both of them are overachievers.  Haha.

Here are some pictures from the Boosterthon run:

The Minor Leagues - Lookouts style

After 3 games in the regular season, the Lookouts are 1-2.  The teams consist of  kids who are age 5, 6, and 7 from a West Raleigh age (age as of April 30) while games consist of six innings.  They won their first game 23-5 over the Scrappers.  The boys really played well in the first game.  They each had multiple hits and both scored runs.  They were so excited that how they played in their first minor league game.  Mommy and Daddy were also very excited.  The way they played gave them lots of confidence that they belong in this league.

The next game was against the Bees.  It was held on Saturday night at 7:30 (during the middle of the NC State vs. Eastern Kentucky football game).  We didn't even think about what to do.  We sold the football tickets.  There are two big rivals of the Lookouts.  The Bees and the Thunder.  The boys were excited to be playing under the lights as well as against one of their friends from Children's House, Everett Cagle.  It was really a good tight game, but the Bees prevailed in extra innings 6-5.

The third game was against the River Dogs.  The game was hard fought, but the River Dogs pulled ahead at the end of the game and won 19-17.  The boys are enjoying the games, and mainly playing left and right field.

Here is a picture of the team captains before the River Dogs game.
