From the mouths of little kids

We just had to tell everyone this.  This was so funny.  When we were picking out clothes to wear on Friday morning, Mark found something that he wanted to wear.  He said the following line to  Mommy:

"Mom, can we wear these clothes today, we've not worn them in long days!"

I think he meant we haven't worn them in a long time! It was so funny and cute.

Saturday fun

This morning, we had a friend come over for a play date.  Alex came over again to play.  This time, it was set up to play tennis.  Alex came over this morning and the boys were so excited.  They hadn't seen him since they moved up to Children's House.  After we got ready this morning, the boys wanted to wait for him on the front porch.  It was so cute.

Since we had a good rain last night, it was too wet to go play tennis right away.  Jack, Mark, and Alex all played inside until almost 11.  Then we went over to the tennis court.  The boys had a lot of fun.  All three of them have the same racquet and were very adept at getting the tennis ball over the net.  They hit some shots that honestly were pretty impressive.

After tennis was over, we all drove to Chic-Fil-A for lunch.  Well, it was for a dual purpose.  One was definitely lunch.  Secondly, there was a NC State pep rally.  The band (approximately 25 members), cheerleaders, and Mr. Wuf were there.  The boys played some games that were set up, clapped to the fight song, and got their picture made was some of their favorite people.

The boys got a little scared when the band played, simply because they were so close to them.  The enjoyed seeing Mr. Wuf, but from a safe distance.  But they really had a good time as everyone gets ready for the NC State-Tennessee football game next Friday in Atlanta.

When it was over, it was nap time for Jack, Mark, and Alex.  Everyone had a good time and were already looking forward to doing it again sometime soon.

Here are a few pictures from today:

Now we know what Jack was looking at.  He was so excited to get his picture made with some of the band members!

The visit to GG's for her birthday

Last Sunday after church, we drove down to Pinehurst to see GG.  It was good to see GG, especially since her birthday was coming up.  All she wanted for her birthday was to see Jack and Mark.  Her birthday is August 24, so this was something that we could easily do for her.

It had been a rainy morning but we hoped it would stop before we got to Pinehurst as we wanted to let the boys play with their stomp rockets that GG had gotten them for their birthday.  Thankfully, it stopped raining on the way down and it was somewhat dry so the boys could show off how fun the stomp rocket is.

GG loved watching Jack and Mark shoot the rockets off.  She had the best time outside in the parking lot as rockets went every which way.

GG was doing well, and we were very glad to see that.

Here are a couple pictures from the trip:

Mark dancing

Yesterday, the boys were playing with one of their microphones that played a couple of songs. While it played, they danced. Where did Mark get these moves from?  Here is Mark dancing:

Preschool

We can't believe that our little guys started preschool on Monday, August 6th. Jack is in Class D at Children's House (the name of the preschool at SAS, where Daddy works) and his lead teacher's name is Ms. Dianne and and Mark is in Class C and his lead teacher's name is Ms. Kersten.

As I had promised (to myself), the boys got to pick out there clothes for the first time on their first day of preschool. We made a big deal of it and they seemed to enjoy it! They had really never cared that Mommy or Daddy picked out their clothes each day, but we thought this would be a good way for them to feel more like big boys now.

Here is a picture of them on their first day ever going to school dressed differently. This was a big day for Mommy! Of course, they both baseball shirts, but different ones!

Not the best picture, but the best one I could quickly get before heading out to work and school!

The boys have handled the transition to new classes and a new building pretty well. On their first day, their teachers told us that both boys had friends to run up to them on the playground and say "hey Jack", "hey Mark"! They enjoyed seeing some friends that they recognized that were in their 2 year old classes. Their teachers have been telling us that they are doing great with their "lessons" (which is a very important part of a Montessori based preschool). Mark has not been eating very well. We are hoping that this gets better with time. Last year when we first separated the boys and their were transitioning into the 2 year old classes, Jack didn't eat well for the first month. He started eating better with time, so we are hoping for the same with Mark. Jack's teacher has told us that he gets teary-eyed from time to time and says that he wants to see his Mommy, but seems to get over it pretty quickly each time. We know that this too will pass with time.

We are SO proud of our preschoolers! Hard to believe they are in preschool!
